NOPE.

Not if we set out to walk the crowded old paths. Not if we don’t stick our necks out and ask for the better. Yeah, we had the familiar midlife tug-of-war between life’s true calling and the security of a cushioned life… between the dare to take a leap and hesitating. We went through the grinder, till we just called time on it and decided to give our dream a mighty go.

We hailed from the medical and pharma realms. We were the first-hand witnesses to the handicaps of modern science -- we understood that most of the solutions it offers are merely lesser evils to the problems they solve. Yet on the other hand, nature has evolved methods that complement each other so well, and without any collateral damage coming into the equation. Why aren't we able to emulate that? That enquiry set us forth on a quest. Our limitations, and those of all humanity, were the sticky problems to solve of course. But why not make a start? Why not believe?

The COVID-19 pandemic added grist for the 'mindmills.' One animated discussion inside a charmed afternoon, sometime in June 2020, brought all the pieces together for us. The fact that COVID-19 had no cure brought focus on its prevention and the disinfection measures available to us. The pandemic had of course also positioned us attitudinally to ask for better solutions than those that we had. The fact that our current disinfectants are made from harmful chemicals and left behind residues that were not amenable to the environment was the tipping point. It underscored our conviction: Science was failing us. It also gave us an immediate task: We had to make a better disinfectant!

That lifted the veil off Nanoscience for us. And ARGËSIL was born.

Silver Nanoparticles when combined with Hydrogen Peroxide, penetrate and cause structural damage to the cell membranes. Their positively charged ions create free radicals that effect the instantaneous death of the cells. After the job is done, what's left behind is just water and oxygen -- absolutely no chemical residue.

Were we talking about an alpha disinfectant there? It was a comprehensive killer. It worked over extended periods after application, it was economical. Yes, it was that… and more! And we had the founding idea for ARGENOBËL!

Our foray into Nanotechnology brought forth possibilities that we could get busy with. Nanomaterials, innovative nanotech solutions… we had a greenfield! Soon, we were joined by scientists, research personnel, and thought leaders from around the world. We became ‘people in a pact of passion’. And soon, we were walking the talk.

Nanotechnology is humanity's inevitable future. But we are already looking beyond it. Asking questions and carrying the flag for ‘science & sensibility’ into other realms.
